Its mission is “to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the Greater Perry Area and to promote educational and recreational opportunities for all throughout our community through charitable philanthropy.”
The James E. Worrall Foundation held its official kick-off fundraiser Thursday at the Perry Arts Center, where more than 100 people showed up in support of its mission.
“Jim always said, ‘The people in Perry just know how to do things,” … and they did tonight,” said Frances Worrall, the wife of former Perry Mayor James Worrall, during the event.
Worrall told the audience about the appropriateness of having the fundraiser in the Arts Center because it was “the first building he got for the city,” she proudly stated. “It cost $8.”
Because the mayor was focused on providing the citizens with educational and recreational opportunities, the foundation will focus on the same.
The foundation, which is a non-profit organization, will provide funding for scholarships, educational programs, recreational opportunities, the preservation of heritage and the community and grants.
