Jessica Clark/HHJ David Morley, one of the homeowners on the HODAC Christmas Tour of Homes, talks about the 13 waterfalls in his backyard.
Journal Staff Writer
Getting ideas for decorating your home for the holidays doesn’t always have to come from a magazine. They can come from the homes in your community, and HODAC is giving people in the area that opportunity this year in Statham’s Landing.
“If you like artwork, we’ve got lots,” said David Morley, who is one of the homeowners on the HODAC Christmas Tour of Homes.
When you walk into the Morley’s home, you are struck with the sight of a beautiful tree full of whimsical frog ornaments.
This frog theme is echoed throughout the house, mixed in with a Japanese theme that go together seamlessly.
Yet, decorating for the holidays may not be the only ideas you get when on the tour. You may get ideas on how you would like your home to look year round.
A quick step outside the home transports you to a garden reminiscent of those in Japan, with sculptures, waterfalls, plants and a path that leads through a gate to the front of the home.
There are several homes in Statham’s Landing on the tour, which will be held Dec. 2 from 2 to 6 p.m.
People who take the tour can opt to drive from home to home, the homes listed on the brochure, or ride in a golf cart provided by Mike’s Golf Carts.
The tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the tour. The restaurant at the clubhouse, Michael’s, will provide coffee or cider for $5, which will be donated to HODAC.
There is also a raffle for multiple prizes that are pictured on HODAC’s facebook page.
The tour tickets can be purchased online at, and in person at Suntrust on Watson Boulevard, Hwy. 96 and South Houston Lake Road, Golden Key Realty located at 526 South Houston Lake Road, the Landing Golf Cub at 309 Stathams Way and Phillips Furniture at 1734 Watson Blvd.
HODAC “provides education, prevention and intervention programs and services that impact the health and welfare of Georgia citizens locally and throughout the state.”
