MCKENZIE (July 5) A large gathering of friends, family, school administrators and media assembled inside the Vera Low Center for Student Enrichment on the campus of Bethel University to witness university president Robert Prosser’s announce the appointment of Dale Kelley of Huntingdon as the school’s new athletic director.
Kelley succeeds Glenn Hayes who announced his retirement in June.
Regarding his appointment, Kelley said, “Dr. Bob Prosser and I met a few weeks ago and discussed the possibility of my taking the job as athletic director. It didn’t take long to work things out. I am delighted and excited to return to my alma mater and being a part of the fastest-growing university in the nation. This is truly an exciting day for me and for my family.”
He added, “Bethel has opened many doors for me in the fields of sports and politics. I treasure my memories of my basketball career here. For many years, this school has been a shining example of how academics and athletics work together to mold young women and men into responsible and productive citizens. I’m grateful to this fine institution for all that it has blessed me with and look forward to giving back to it. I hope to take my experience in leadership and translate it over to Bethel. This university has a strong foundation to build upon, and the future looks very bright. The best days are ahead for Bethel University.”
Kelley concluded, “Thank you Dr. Prosser for giving me the opportunity to help an institution that we both love and cherish.”
