For the third year in a row, it was Stratford Academy sweeping the Westfield Hornets in the best-of-3 series to determine the GISA AAA softball champions. It was also the fourth title in a row for Stratford. All the action took place Saturday at the Southern Pines Complex in Dublin.

Westfield’s softball club was pushed to a third and deciding game in its latest GISA playoff series.
Game 3, which followed the first two Kyle Davis’ Hornets played against Loganville Christian Thursday at home, didn’t even go the full seven innings. With a 13-0 four-inning whitewashing, Westfield is back in the AAA semifinals and will square off with Mt. de Sales at noon today (Saturday) at the Southern Pines Complex in Dublin.

In one of the more interesting doubleheader softball sweeps imaginable, the Westfield Hornets moved past the opening round of the GISA AAA tournament by beating Gatewood in a 1-0 pitcher's duel and a 17-3 blasting Monday at home.

On the 12th pitch of her at-bat, and after pulling as many as five pitches foul, Perry High freshman Mattie Hamilton produced the biggest hit of her young softball career Thursday at home. By clearing the bases on a double to the left-field corner, Hamilton sent the Panthers to a 7-5 non-region win against Houston County High.
